Merangiane in festa is the title of a very singular event, where eggplant become the queen. The event takes place, during the summer, in Castrì since 2000. It is organised from Pro Loco Castrì and it offers four days of concerts and culinary experiences.

C’è spazio anche per le '''sperimentazioni''', non di rado firmate da chef stellati, come la pasta al forno con crema di melanzane e le '''melanzane accostate al cioccolato'''. La colonna sonora è varia e coinvolgente e comprende anche musica popolare salentina.
