Sweet potato

The countryside of Squinzano is well known for the cultivation of sweet potato. From the biological family of Convolvulaceae, this crop comes form the tropical areas of Americas

Here, in Squinzano, it is known as “Batata” and it is cultivated in two species: red and white. It has a long oval shape and it can be found in the markets from September to December.

It is very rich of vitamin C and antioxidant. It can be used in many recipes or cooked alone, in the oven or fried in a pan.
