The name “Museo Diffuso” (Diffused Museum) indicates a museum which is not made from rooms but has as ceiling the sky and its treasures need to be discovered in a large area, during a walk in the sun. The “Museo Diffuso” is located were the remains of the ancient town of Messapi were found. Going to this place is like going back in time, precisely back to 5th and 8th centuries A.D.

The remains of a whole town were uncovered during the researches conducted by the archaeologists, including streets, houses, graves and water cistern.

During the researches, many objects were discovered, most of which will be kept in the Archaeological museum in Cavallino. One of the most important objects found so far is an ancient loom. However, researches on this archaeological site have not been concluded yet and many treasures are probably still waiting to be discovered
