An old miracle gives origin to the celebration of Madonna del Monte in Cavallino. The celebration dedicated to the Virgin, which takes place the first Sunday of May in Cavallino.
The myth says that the icon of Madonna del Monte was found from a shepherd in “la rutta”, a small cave in which one of his cow was sheltered.
On Sunday evening, the music from the marching band can be heard from the entire town, full of decorations and “luminarie” (a particular decoration made of wood structure with lights). The peak of the spiritual celebration is the religious procession in which the statue of the Virgin is walked along the streets of the town to bless its citizens.
