Maggio Salentino is organised from the association Calestass, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecce to allow art enjoyment on the principle of welcoming, a very important concept in the area.
The most beautiful private houses are open for this initiative, to welcome tourist groups. In these houses, the groups will experience the traditions of the area, through explanations of locals, and they will taste the homemade food prepared for them.
The initiative is concluded with a contest (Xenialedi), in which the best host family is awarded based on the reviews collected from tourists.
