The game of astragali was largely diffused in Monteroni, both among children and adults. It has its origin in ancient Greece and it has been developed and changed over the years.

“Astragali” are bones of sheep or ram. These bones were objects very easy to find, back in time, since sheep meat was consumed quite often from all the social classes.

The game of astragali gave origin to the modern dice game. According to Astragali game, these small bones were thrown and the points were counted based on which face of the bone was visible after the launches.
