“Lacrime di Sant’Anna”, the tears of Anna, are the traditional dessert prepared in the days of the celebration for Sant’Anna. These sweets remind to the tears of Anna, due to the fact that she could not have sons from Gioacchino, her husband.
These sweets are similar to “strufoli” from Naples and “purceddhuzi” from Salento. They have a long shape and they are prepared from dough of grinded almond and sugar, cooked in a pot.
Una volta freddo, dall’impasto si ricavano delle palline allungate a forma di goccia poi ripassate nella glassa di zucchero fondente, disposte a montagnola su un vassoietto e decorate a piacimento con confettini colorati o mandorle tritate grossolanamente.
