The Virgin is celebrated, every year, with a walk at the sunrise from the town of Vernole to the Adriatic coast. Through this ritual, the citizens celebrate and keep alive in the memory a miracle done from the Virgin. Indeed, the virgin appeared to them, back in time, saying that they should move to the internal area, safer than the coast. This advice saved them from the Turkish invasion and they founded the town of Vernole, in the inland area.
The same path of 15 kilometres is done in the opposite direction, from Vernole to the sanctuary of the Virgin of Roca.
