San Niceta is the Patron Saint of the town of Melendugno. The Saint has gothic origins and it is celebrated in September, with a large participation of all the citizens. The city is decorated with luminarie (decorative structures of wood and lights) and the centre is invaded from stands of every kind.

The marching band starts playing the day before the celebration. The procession takes the statue through the streets to bless the entire Melendugno and it ends with a show of fireworks.
