In this event is celebrated the Patron Saint of Lecce and two co-patrons: Saint Oronzo; Saint Giusto and Saint Fortunato. In a meeting of lights and colours, secular traditions are brought back to life every year.
For three days – 24th, 25th and 26th of August – the city is framed from very peculiar decorative light constructions (luminarie) and both civil and religious rituals take place. The peak of the pathos is the religious procession, when the statues of the Saints are taken through the historical centre.
Centinaia di bancarelle si dispongono tra il Castello Carlo V e piazza Sant’Oronzo proponendo mercanzie e leccornie d’ogni tipo, mentre il Duomo è il fulcro dei riti sacri. Anche la periferia cittadina è coinvolta nei festeggiamenti, ospitando il luna park e il seguitissimo spettacolo pirotecnico conclusivo.
