Squinzano is well known in the entire Italy for its marching band. The marching band was officially constituted in 1893 but it is possible that it already existed before this year.
The first director of the marching band was Alessio Polito, followed by Vincenzo Coniglio. The most famous and admired directors surely are the brothers Ernesto and Gennaro Abate.
Oggi la banda di Squinzano si chiama Gran concerto musicale “Abbate” ed è ancora il fiore all’occhiello della cittadina. I musicisti sono invitati ad esibirsi in tutta Italia riscuotendo un grande successo.
