The cult of Santi Medici links the town of Melendugno to the towns of Latina and Bitonto, its twin towns. The main location for the religious celebrations is the chiesa dell’Addolorata, in Melendugno, where the statues of the Saints Damiano and Cosmo are preserved.

In the end of September, the ritual starts with the unction of ill citizens. The following day, the statues are taken into a procession from Chiesa Madre to Chiesa dell’Addolorata, along with the marching band.

All’arrivo in chiesa, come da tradizione si svolge il bacio della reliquia dei santi e subito dopo uno spettacolo pirotecnico che annuncia la conclusione dei festeggiamenti.
