Sant’Antonio da Padova is the Patron Saint of Borgagne. Every year, the citizens of Borgagne organise a festival to honour their Saint, which takes place on 29th and 30th of August.
The village is decorated with luminarie (decorative structures of wood and lights) and fireworks shows. The rituals are not only religious but even civil. It is celebrated, to keep it alive in the collective memory, the legend that brought Saint Antonio to become the Patron Saint of the village.
The legend says that the statue of the Saint, which was abandoned in the countryside, arrived to Borgagne brought from a stream, formed thanks to a miracle. From this day, Saint Antonio from Padova became the Patron Saint of the city.
