The Patron Saint of the town of Cavallino, San Domenico di Guzman, is honoured in this celebration. Devotion for this Saint was introduced in Salento in the 17th century from the marchioness Beatrice Acquaviva d’Aragona.
During the month of August, in the town of Cavallino, two days are entirely dedicated to this celebration, both with religious and civil rituals. The marching band is playing while the statue of the Patron Saint is taken throughout the town in the procession.
