Opere d’arte pregiate nascono nel Salento dalle mani degli artigiani del ferro, molti dei quali hanno il proprio laboratorio nell’area di Cavallino.
La lavorazione del ferro battuto è una pratica molto antica, particolarmente diffusa nel 1600 e sviluppatasi nei secoli successivi, che ha dato forma a manufatti straordinari quali diversi arredi sacri e le ringhiere “a petto d’oca” che adornano alcuni balconi barocchi nel centro storico di Lecce e altri paesi salentini.
La diffusione di questa pratica artigianale a Cavallino si rispecchia in alcuni monumenti che abbelliscono il centro del paese, realizzati in ferro battuto da artisti locali che utilizzano sia tecniche tradizionali sia sperimentazioni contemporanee.
