Merangiane in festa is the title of a very singular event, where eggplant become the queen. The event takes place, during the summer, in Castrì since 2000. It is organised from Pro Loco Castrì and it offers four days of concerts and culinary experiences.
The culinary offer is traditional and with best quality ingredients. The most typical recipes presented in the event are obviously with eggplants, like “parmigiana di melanzane” and eggplant balls.

Sua maestà la melanzana è regina dell’estate a Castri di Lecce, dove si svolge la sagra Marangiane in festa. Dal 2000, la Pro Loco castrisana si occupa di organizzare più di 20 stand gastronomici e concerti per allietare le quattro serate dell’evento.
Genuinità dei prodotti e sapori della tradizione sono alla base delle degustazioni, con una ricca proposta di ricette tipiche del Salento come la parmigiana di melanzane e le polpette di melanzane, che a Castri di Lecce hanno una forma leggermente schiacciata.
C’è spazio anche per le sperimentazioni, non di rado firmate da chef stellati, come la pasta al forno con crema di melanzane e le melanzane accostate al cioccolato. La colonna sonora è varia e coinvolgente e comprende anche musica popolare salentina.
