This celebration is dedicated to the Patron Saint Cesario, from which the town took the name. Saint Cesario is celebrated the fourth Sunday of July, to honour the arrival in the town of remains of the African Saint in ancient times.
During this celebration the solemn service is celebrated and the marching band can be heard in the entire town, under the light of the “luminarie” decoration. To this celebration, other two festivities were celebrated during the year to honour the Saint.
The first one is “San Cesario del Sindaco”, celebrated on the 7th November, the day of the Patron Saint. The second one is not celebrated anymore, but it used to be in February and it was called “San Cesario of the thirteen fires

La festa patronale di San Cesario di Lecce è dedicata al santo da cui la cittadina prende il nome. La solennità di San Cesario si celebra la quarta domenica di luglio, per ricordare l’arrivo in paese della reliquia del santo di origini africane.
La processione, le messe solenni e i concerti della banda nel paese addobbato con le luminarie caratterizzano la cosiddetta festa “grande” d’estate. A questa si aggiungevano due altre occasioni durante l’anno per rendere omaggio al patrono.
La prima, detta “San Cesario del Sindaco” si svolge il 7 novembre e coincide con la festa liturgica del santo patrono. La seconda, ormai caduta in disuso, era chiamata dai fedeli “San Cesario te le tritici focare” (San Cesario dei tredici falò), e si svolgeva a febbraio.
