Il proprietario della masseria era il malvagio Camillo Morello, che costringeva gli operai del suo frantoio a lavorare come degli schiavi. Tra questi, il “nachiro” era incaricato di controllare che tutti svolgessero i propri compiti senza perdere tempo. Dopo alcuni mesi di lavoro ininterrotto, una notte di gennaio gli operai stremati si fermarono per riposare e il “'''nachiro'''” fu clemente con loro.

Il signor Morello giunse nella masseria proprio quella notte, infuriandosi. Ordinò ai suoi uomini di gettare il “nachiro” nella vasca dell’'''olio''', dove sarebbe rimasto schiacciato dalla macina. Ma la pesante pietra per prodigio cadde a terra, salvando l’uomo da una morte sicura. Da allora, '''il frantoio è fermo''' e la macina è ancora nello stesso punto in cui era caduta

Even though the break was not long, Camillo Morello arrived into the oil mill and, seeing nobody at work, he became extremely angry. He asked to his workers to constrain the “nachiro” in the oil pool, where he would be killed from the millstone. But the destiny had chosen another conclusion for this story. Indeed, the heavy millstone suddenly dropped on the ground, saving the “nachiro” from a certain death. From that day the oil production stopped and the millstone is still in the same place where it dropped.

A magical millstone is situated in proximity of Lecce. An antique underground oil mill is preserved under masseria Morello, half way between Lecce and San Cataldo.

The owner of masseria Morello was Camillo Morello, a reach and heartless man. He was treating his workers as slaves, making them working all day long without any breaks. Among them, the “nachiro” was the one in charge of work supervision. However, one night in January, after few months of continuous work, they were exhausted and they decided to take a short break. The “nachiro” was tolerant with the workers and he permitted the unofficial break.

Even though the break was not long, Camillo Morello arrived into the oil mill and, seeing nobody at work, he became extremely angry. He asked to his workers to constrain the “nachiro” in the oil pool, where he would be killed from the millstone. But the destiny had chosen another conclusion for this story. Indeed, the heavy millstone suddenly dropped on the ground, saving the “nachiro” from a certain death. From that day the oil production stopped and the millstone is still in the same place where it dropped.

Ma la pesante pietra per prodigio cadde a terra, salvando l’uomo da una morte sicura. Da allora, il frantoio è fermo e la macina è ancora nello stesso punto in cui era caduta
