The Patron Saint Nicola di Myra, protector of children and young women ready for wedding, has a particular importance to the town of Squinzano. The Patron Saint is honoured in December, with civil and religious rituals.
The opening of the celebrations is “sagra della pittula”, an event where the delicious traditional dish (fried dough filled with veggies) is offered, in many different recipes, at the gastronomic stalls. On 6th December, the Saint day, the services take place since early morning and during the day is opened the San Nicola fair.

The Patron Saint Nicola di Myra, protector of children and young women ready for wedding, has a particular importance to the town of Squinzano.
Si inizia con la Sagra della “pittula”, che in piazza San Nicola accoglie un pubblico numeroso pronto a gustare le deliziose frittelle. Il 6 dicembre, giorno della commemorazione di San Nicola, le messe si susseguono dalle prime luci del giorno e la fiera di San Nicola è una delle più attese dell’inverno nel Salento.
I fuochi d’artificio annunciano la partenza della processione e, in serata, sul palcoscenico allestito in piazza San Nicola si suona musica dal vivo.
