The festival of chestnuts and wine takes place in October in Melendugno to celebrate the tasty products of the season. The festival is organised by Pro Loco, in collaboration with the municipality.
The wine is enjoyed with crunchy chestnuts from Rionero in Volture, twin town of Melendugno. Along with chestnuts, is possible to taste the traditional dishes of the Salento cuisine, like different kinds of cheese, “frise”, olives and salami.
