Whistle and bells of terracotta are handicrafts with very ancient tradition and it was sold in some particular celebration in the city. Nowadays, it is more and more appreciated, even as souvenir. Thus, small shops and producers are placed in the historical centre.

Rappresentano una tradizione molto antica i fischietti e le campanelle di terracotta realizzati dagli artigiani di Lecce. Fino a pochi decenni fa erano protagonisti di occasioni di festa cittadine, mentre negli ultimi anni l’artigianato della terracotta è sempre più richiesto e anima alcune fiere nel centro storico.
Portano fortuna e scacciano la malasorte, questi piccoli manufatti che assumono le forme più disparate. I fischietti, infatti, vengono modellati a forma di animali da cortile, personaggi vari e invenzioni fantasiose, per poi essere dipinti con colori sgargianti e regalati a grandi e piccini.
Le campanelle di terracotta rallegrano in particolar modo il periodo pasquale e sono caratterizzate da decorazioni multicolore, con fiori e motivi geometrici.
