L’apertura del nuovo anno accademico rappresenta un importante momento di incontro per i docenti, il personale tecnico e gli studenti dell’'''Università del Salento''', che nel 2015 ha celebrato 60 anni di attività.

Nel centro congressi del '''complesso Ecotekne''', a pochi chilometri da Lecce sulla via per Monteroni, il magnifico '''Rettore''' chiama a raccolta i professori delle sei facoltà, con ricercatori, dottorandi, impiegati amministrativi e tutti gli iscritti ai corsi dell’ateneo.

Il programma della giornata prevede diversi interventi tra cui la lectio magistralis di uno '''studioso di calibro internazionale''', ma anche dibattiti ed eventi collaterali, come '''mostre e concerti'''.
